 Fire alarm and security monitoring are two distinct but related services. Fire alarm monitoring involves the use of a monitoring center that receives signals from a building's fire alarm system. If the fire alarm is triggered, the monitoring center receives a signal and can take appropriate action, such as contacting the fire department or building occupants to verify the alarm and dispatch emergency services. Fire alarm monitoring is important because it provides an additional layer of protection in the event that the fire alarm system fails or is unable to alert occupants.  Security monitoring, on the other hand, involves the use of a monitoring center that receives signals from a building's security system, such as alarms triggered by motion sensors, door contacts, or glass break detectors. If an alarm is triggered, the monitoring center can alert the building's security personnel or dispatch law enforcement to investigate the situation.
